My name is Ellen Ortega. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (license #70885) in the state of Texas. I am the founder of Waypower Counseling, PLLC, and I love my job. I became a counselor because I love people. I believe that mental health is the key to a happy, fulfilling, and purposeful life, and everyone deserves that. I have a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Texas A&M University and a Master’s Degree in counseling from University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center. Over the past decade I’ve worked as a licensed counselor in various settings ranging from K-12 school to hospital to juvenile detention to private practice. All of that experience has ultimately landed me here. At Waypower Counseling, I specialize in working with young adult individuals who are experiencing anxiety, depression, and life transition challenges. I believe that most people experience challenges in mental health at some point in their lives, and when that point comes, counseling is an invaluable tool in recovery, relief, and personal growth.
